So quite......

Its been quitely, being far from softball, rest alot and gain weights. Well, I do gain weights, being lazy, and all. Since winning the BA tournament, I think only twice I went to softball field.
And now just back from 2 weeks holiday, a colleagues dare to tell me that I gained weight, especially the tummy area. So I planned to go for light jog in the afternoon, but instead those lazyness makes me play soccer, well if only it was the real soccer, but I was busy playing soccer on my bed using the psp hehehehe..... Its not funny is it? Well I really wanted to do some exercises, and I really have to set a date, this time.
But I think I have to started it with softball, but since this is my standby week (job related - not an excuse - I hope) so I have to set the date MAY.... BE..... next week, notice the caps..... lazyness still lurks in my body and brain.
Anyway I hope I dont rest that long and hope that the lazyness will subside soon.

PLK Zombies wrapped up their seventh win to emerge champions of the 2008 Black Arrows Softball Carnival after stomping on their rivals Black Arrows I 16-7 at the Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah field in Gadong, near here, yesterday. The champions led from the start and never gave any room for the Black Arrows I to mount a comeback. The Black Arrows I were missing key players for the championship match and Zombies took full advantage of their misfortune, making it clear they meant business after the first three innings finished 5-0 in their favour. The Zombies' good defensive work meant that the Black Arrows I could not make many runs.To make matters worse, the Black Arrows I also created a lot of in-field errors and out-field misjudgments.
The Zombies' superb hitting was backed up by steady pitching and that gave their opponents a hard time the entire afternoon."This win is definitely overwhelming, our batting and fielding were superb today (Sunday)," said Zombies captain Saiful Adli. "Before the match I asked my teammates to give it their all as we had worked hard before this tournament and I am glad it all paid off," he added.Saiful said the team played well and did not depend on luck to take the title."This is our seventh win (in the tournament) and I am indeed proud of it. We are going to continue playing the best we can and are now even more motivated to train harder," added Saiful, who said the Zombies trained five times a week for two hours a day.
The Black Arrows I finished second and Wanderers were third after losing 4-2 to the runners-up.The tournament is hosted by The Black Arrows.

Softballers return as champs

THE heroic national softball team arrived at the Brunei International Airport last night. They returned as champions of the 2008 Malaysian Intranational Open after thrashing Penang Vipers 10-0 during the final."This is indeed a great achievement and now Malaysia knows that we mean business and take softball very seriously," Brunei Amateur Softball and Baseball Association (Basba) Secretary General Maj (Rtd) Wan Mohd Tambrin Shah said."After this win we feel we need to aim higher, the plan is to make an impact in the Asia and ASEAN softball scene and that is most likely to happen next year," he added.

Before leaving for the four-day tournament that started last Thursday, Wan Mohd Tambrin had said that he was aiming to use the tournament to prove that the sport could bring glory to the country. "We really hit the ball during the tournament. Our batting was what won us the game and we knew we had to work on that because it had been one of our weaknesses."
The Vice President of Basba, Pg Hj Jambul Pg Hj Sulaiman said that the team was not confident when they left as they had little time to practice over the fasting month but they still won."We have proved to ourselves that we are a strong team even with a low confidence level, given more time to practice we are sure to achieve something in the future," Pg Hj Jambul said. "We thank the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports for giving us the approval to participate in this tournament, we hope for their continuous support in the future," he added.

Got nothing to prove....

Well, that was the sentence that keeps bugging me since before raya... I dont know why, but it does. Might probably because my failure of getting selected to play for the national team. Well who doesnt, since I tried so so hard to be selected or to prove to others that I can play (a mistake).
Then came today. I was texted by a teammate, asking me to come @ 1530hrs to play against them. Us the mix against them the chosens...
At first I was thinking of just went there, gave back the glove that I borrowed from someone, and watch them playing. Then I was so damn lucky to re-think the phrase "Got nothing to prove".
I have forgotten why I played softball in the first place.
I mean I dont have to prove anything. I love softball, all this while I didnt prove anything to others, instead I was showing/proving myself that I can play well. All these times, I played softball just to satisfied myself everytime I'm playing well, and get mad to myself everytime I played bad, making errors. I will always remind myself to let others judge the way I play as long as I challange myself to play well, and triumph, I'll be happy. The others will always know how to judge right. What they saw is their perspective. As long as I played well and having fun, people will always can see that, and I bet they know how to judge a person, a player, good or bad.
We lost the game, but I've won and learn a lot. It doesnt mean that if I play any game that I have to prove something to others, thats just isnt me. I have lots of fun as I regain my confident, but I think I have to lose weight I gain lately. All in all, to be the best is not by trying to prove to others that you are the best, but try to prove/challange yourself that you can be above your game, prove to yourself that you can do it, let others judge what they want to judge. It is all up to them. I hope I will not forget those I said.... which was the first time actually, hope there wont be the second.

Ramadhan

Fasting started again all over the world, in Brunei we started on the 2nd of September, but softball here especially for the Zombies was rested soon after the BNST Chmapionship trophy was won. So most players having their rest till the next tournament which shud be held in October that'll be organize by the Black Arrows.

For some, rest was something luxurious, since some join the try-outs for the National team which if I'm not mistaken for the Malaysia Open in either late October or early November this year. Me too join the try-out, well it started before the fasting month actually, but since the fasting month last monday was the first training/conditioning night, held in the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.

It was very tiring that night. What else more can I say about that night. The first night in the fasting month. After a very big meal during the sungkai, then 2 hrs plus after that, ran few laps, do some stretching, then few minutes of softball-ing, ending it with few sets of 100m sprinting, you tell me how I felt that night.

As I arrived home, went out of my car, my right knees was cramped, so I have to stand beside my car for a few minutes to relax the muscle, the I rest few minutes in the kitchen, drank few glasses of water, then went to the bathroom. As I looked in the mirror, I looked whiter than usual, well honestly, I looked pale.

Well it makes me to think twice to join the try-out again. But then again I think I have to, just to stay fit and challange myself, I guess..... :) Am I that confident to challenge myself? hehehehhehe

Enjoying fasting to those who do, may this holy Ramadhan brings blessings to us. To those who are resting..... I envy you......... I really do :)

BNST 2008 Men Champ

Zombies crowned champion for the BNST 2008 for the 2nd time, won 11-0 against the Black Arrow I.
The scoreline doesnt reflect the actual game scenario. The Arrows played good that night, just that the zombies played better, offensive and defensively, with zero error, simple play the zombies defense was very impressive, just that the zombies #44 batting was poor, *hey thats me*. Well its the truth my batting was very poor, let me find excuse/s first. I was tired and not 100% fit, more excuses HERE.
Back to the game, every zombies did their job well, very well infact. With all the discipline they showed, no wonder they went out of the game as the winner, as the champion. They proved to be the real champion, not just by showing others they won the trophy, but by showing others that, the way they played that night was how the real champion plays. From their pitcher to the outfielders, all were in a very good form, right from the start to the very end of the game.
As for the Arrows, they bat well actually, but every ball they hit, the zombies are ready to stop anything, but few errors by their defense let them down. The defense was the the big difference for the two finalists, that was what really make the scoreline like so. The offense was on par, for both, just the zombies defense was really on top form. Something to be proud of.
It was the night that was meant for the Zombies, to have played an outstanding game. Congratulations PLK Zombies, keep up the good work, as a zombiezian myself, I think I am the zombies biggest fan, a zombiezian and proud.
Thank you to the organizer, Banzai Softball Team, for again organizing this prestigous tournament for the third consecutive year. A job well done, a tournament that can be proud of, hope to play in the same tournament again next year.

Bandar Seri Begawan - PLK Zombies proved they are currently the best softball team in Brunei Darussalam when they emerged champions again at the Brunei National Softball Tournament on Sunday night after a clean sweep win of 11-0 against Black Arrows I in the final at Taman SOAS.
Newcomer Chikara won the ladies' category after beating Divas 7-0. The ladies' final in the afternoon was graced by HRH Pg Anak Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Zariah.
In an interview, player-coach Mardani bin Ya'akub of PLK Zombies which comprised players from Perpindahan Lambak Kanan said: "We are ecstatic being able to defend our title."
"The team has done a great job. They have maintained their focus and determination throughout the tournament."
"Next year we will be back and will be more determined to take the title for the third consecutive year." he added.
Third place of the men's category went to Wanderers who defeated Black Arrows II 21-5.
Mardi bin Hj Suhaili, the coach of the Chikara team said: "I am very happy and proud of the team. Their hard work in training has finally paid off by winning the championship."

PLK Zombies keep crown

PLK ZOMBIES remain Brunei National Softball tournament champions after winning Sunday night's final against Black Arrows 11-0 in a one-sided match.
Last year's winners retained their crown during the championship match at the Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien field here in convincing style, taking an early lead and maintaining it as the game progressed.
Growing in confidence after the first three innings which finished 6-0 to the good, PLK Zombies' good defensive work meant that Blacks Arrows could not make any runs.
The scoreline came as a surprise to most, not least the winning team's coach Mahdani Yaakub.
"I did not think it (the scoreline) would be like this and I was expecting a tight game," said Mahdani, who is also the team's pitcher.
"We won today (Sunday) because of our discipline, the willingness of everyone on the pitch to follow instructions and our good teamwork.
"I am happy we were able to shut them out and we managed to do that by maintaining our confidence and focus when we had the lead," he added.
Apart from winning last year's title and the one this year, PLK Zombies' recent achievements include finishing as runners-up during last year's President Cup tournament.
The battle for third saw Wanderers beat Black Arrows II 21-5 in their match for bronze held before the championship game.
Meanwhile, in the women's competition, Chikaras were crowned champions after going past Divas 7-0.
The Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Adnan Hj Hanafiah was the guest of honour at the event and presented the prizes to the winners.
Arguably the biggest and most anticipated tournament in the country, the Brunei National Softball tournament has been held for the past two years in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's birthday celebrations.
Ten men's teams and six women's teams took part in this year's edition of the competition.

BNST 2008 2ND ROUND

It was the beginning of the second round of the BNST 2008 yesterday, total of 6 games were played, 2 of which are the ladies game.
The game I knew well was the game between PLK Zombies against the Pirates, which was won by the Zombies, 7-0. It was the first perfect 5 inning game for the Zombies pitcher, who pitched well during the game. Poor batting by the Pirates did help too. The Zombies also have poor batting early in the game, luckily in the top 3rd they managed to raise their game and managed to score few runs. Thanks to their team manager who read the game well and change their tactics to score the runs. Pirates also played well actually, just that luck wasnt on their side.
Some images of the PLK Zombies Vs Pirates match.
The Zombies will face B.A II who won their game against the Kensei in a thrilling tie break. Black Arrow II lead the game but Kensei managed to tie the run to 4-4 in the bottom 5th. The game went to a tie-break, and after a fumble by a Kensei player, the B.A II runner managed to sneak in the winning run. Just to shortened up the story, because I didnt really know the situation of that game :), but it does sounds nice right.

Chikaras made a payback as they won 6-1 against Comets. Full of confident and the spirit of paying back for losing to the Comets last time round, they lead the game right from the beginning. The Chikara offensive was explosive. Their batter did well to hit the ball and they defended well. Their pitcher managed to hit a 2 run in the park homerun, with their captain, in the scoring position, on 2nd base. The Comets let themselves down, by drowning themselves in the mental side of the game. Some just afraid to be struck out by the outstanding Chikara's pitcher, which eventually struck them out. Their batting was totally different from the first round, but then again, everyone can see, if a pitcher pitched well in a game, also helped by the Chikara's in/outfielders who comitted less errors compared to their opponent.
Some images of Chikara Vs Comets match.
Chikara can now only wait for the outcome of the game between Comets and Divas, the winner of that game will face the Chikara in the championship.
Other games were :-
Divas won against Pasadena
Wanderers won against Gunners
Black Arrow I won against the Steelers.
Sorry guys I didnt know the score, for the Divas/Pasadena game, I was busy watching the Comets/Chikara game, and for the other 2 games, I was busy in the afternoon, well what can I say, I managed to find my sweetdreamland :)
Anyway some images of Divas Vs Pasadena HERE

BNST Wk 4

I managed to see the match between......
Comets
Vs
Chikara
... which ended Comets won 5-4. It was an interesting game to watch since both team were unbeaten prior to the match. The Comets lead the game from the beginning by 1 run then in the top 2nd, Chikaras scored 3 runs. After a 3 run homer by a Comets (dont dare to say her name), an in the park homerun, (well actually helped by an error made by the right field) in the bottom 3rd, the Comets back in the lead. In the top 4th, the chikara managed to score 1 more run, but the Comets fight firm score 1 winning run in the bottom 5th which make them won the game and their unbeaten record intact. Congrats to the comets and for the Chikaras, fight back.... it's not over yet.......

BNST Wk 3

Week 3 of the BNST 2008, most teams have finished their 1st round games, including the PLK Zombies. The last game was against the BA II, which Zombies won 12-0, well the scoreline doesnt reflect anything, because the BA II players still need lots of experience, well a young team, but give them sometime and more experience, then thing will be different.
The Zombies and the BA I are top in their respective group. The Zombies managed to win 3 games and draw 1, while BA I won all their 1st round game.
As for me, I managed to play half inning only, due to the attack of the migraine, I suffered since Friday after a long journey to Temburong to accompany a colleague to do something at Labu.
To see more images.... you know what to do
and
I'm still feeling the migrane.......

BNST 2008 Week 2

It was a better week for then Zombies, who was up against the perfect record so far Wanderers, who won all their game before facing the Zombies. it was a very good game, where as expected the Wanderers really can hit the ball. The Wanderers lead the game by 2 runs, but Zombies made a comeback in the bottom 1st, when "MB" Shamshul hit the ball between CF and the RF which was then fumbled by Wanderers CF, at that time 2 zombiezians was on 2nd and 1st base, both score the run and "MB" got a 3 base hits.
From that the Zombies lead and ended won the game 5-3 @ top 5th, Congrats to the Zombies, but for the improving Wanderers, well done, it was a very good game.

BNST 2008

Brunei National Softball Tournament is back. Well there might not be prize money, but for us specially me, it is still prestige. The first game was held on sunday, few games were played, which PLK Zombies played 2 games. First game against the Sluggers, Zombies won 13-4. The 2nd game against the Steelers was a draw 3-3, which in my opinion, Zombies should have win the game. Oh well lack of batting practise let us down. Anyhow best of luck to those participating team.

The Championship....

It was the night of not supposed to be like that, or the night wasnt supposed to end like so.... The championship game for the 2nd president's cup 2008 between The PLK Zombies X and The Gunners. It was the clash of the titans some says, but for the Zombies, the winner has won the game right before the start of the game. The Gunners won the game eventually 8-6. Congrats to them, but a very well done to the X for them played the game good that night lead the game by 4 runs right up to the 5th inning.
Oh well, some says that, if it was meant to be, it was meant to be, but it was meant to be the X's night. Some says you just cant blame the umpires, the men in blue, just to throw out the frustration, but then again if the umpire was nervous, right before the start of the game, and tell the contestants about that, you'll have the thinking of his inconstancy calls. Of course we knew that we dont have a pro ump, and I have read an article about dont blame the umpire if your team have a bad game, the things were, X doesnt have a bad game, they played well, but just that the umpires make a little too many mistakes. For me it doesnt really matter, if the plate ump call it ball, even if the pitched ball is right in the center of the strike zone, but the thing was 1 of his mistakes...... He already called ball after a pitch, then a few seconds later and after the Gunner's catcher stared at him, he changed his call to strike.... How can that happen in a championship game? I am NOT blaming the catcher, he has every right to give the ump a lot of pressure, everyone does, dont they? or is it just me, but in my opinion, an ump should stand firm, pro or not. I can add up more but I think I better not....... it will become more unpretty.
Winning isn't everything. The champions are the ones who received the championship trophies, but the true champs are the one who is trying hard to make the best out of the bad situations... and that is why I'm proud to be a zombies..... Not trying to find excuses. Being there in the tensed dugout, they managed well. I'm a winner myself, and hate losing very much, at least I knew that, they really trying hard to win the fight against themselves and win the game, to control their emotions/feelings, to not let their teamates down, and they still can smile knowing that everyone can see how hard it is to break their spirit.
X lost the game playing a very good game, for me everyone can see.... Congrats again to the Gunners, for the X, you guys are definitely not the titans but certainly you all are the best. Keep enjoying things guys, we enjoyed watching.
Who is that bold lady in green...? "She" is hot....hehehe
